Project Overview:
Contract artist to create 2D vector-based game ready assets. Contracts ranged from background assets to item assets and character design and animations for 1920’s style-inspired game: Monochrome RPG.
Creating the Hyena Sisters:
For the Hyena Sisters, a villainous character was required for Talent Town (a more ritzy part of the game); a duo seemed like it would be a unique approach and add more interest and over-the-top design to the character, while using a Hyena as the inspiration animal adding and exotic flare.
With feedback from other character design leads, (Ben E and Rachel Bradley), we hashed through various iterations of what the Hyena Sisters should look like so that the character design worked seamlessly with the game style. Procreate was used for the concept sketches while Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator would be used for the final character card (and animate would be used to animate the various Overworld animations and Battle animations). 3D character model was also created in Blender for reference to aid with game’s isometric OverWorld perspective
creating squeaky squirrel:
For Squeaky Squirrel, this character was needed to serve the purpose of progressing the character through the Greyshade Valley portion. Basic concept sketch and character background story was provided to flesh out concept sketches - which were voted on by the CEO, COO and character design leads Ben E and Rachel Bradley. 3D model was provided for perspective reference. Original design was then presented to shareholders who provided revision requests to change the shape of the character, adjust the eye design and include garments to the character design as well. revisions were presented according to shareholder’s requests and approved to proceed with finalization. 3D model and final character card reference were updated according to the approved design and used to make vector-based game ready Overworld and Battle Animations
